The Best Homemade Classic Hot Chocolate

As a mom I can’t even begin to explain how much I try to focus on making things homemade compared to life before kids. Knowing what’s going into my little bodies is pretty important to me. And although I can’t say they have everything homemade… because hello mom life, four kids and sleep exhaustion. But I do try when I can and when it’s easy enough to make.

We are big hot cocoa lover over here and I’ve been making our own hot cocoa for years now. Our all time family favorite will always be our white chocolate hot chocolate recipe we make. It is so good.

But sometimes a classic recipe is needed. It’s perfect for those cozy up and watch Christmas movie type of days. Top it with some whipped cream or marshmallows toss in a couple sprinkles and it’s heaven in a mug. We love to make all our hot chocolate with milk but use water if you prefer. We just the creaminess that milk gives it.

So onto the best homemade classic hot chocolate recipe you’ll ever need.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 C Powdered Milk
  • 1 C Powdered Sugar
  • 1/2 C Cocoa Powder
  • 1 tsp Cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp Salt

DIRECTIONS

  1. Mix all ingredients together
  2. Add 3 tbsp to a hot cut of milk or water
  3. Enjoy!

We love to make this in a big enough batch to last us a while and store in one our mason jars to keep it fresh. It’s seriously so good you won’t regret making enough for a couple weeks. It will even make the perfect homemade gift for all those hot cocoa lovers in your life.
