Minimalism Is Different For Everyone And Differs As Life Changes

Minimalism in this season of life looks pretty crazy if I’m being honest. I mean anything in this season of life does and I accept that. I accept that we will always have a constant flow of things coming into our home. Because as our kids grow… their things will grow with them. And I’m ok with that. That’s what happens.

Now the “out-flow” seems to be taking off a little slower than what we anticipated when we first started but that was a kid or two ago. And well we can’t seem to be more than a year with out baby gear.

But our day will come when we no longer have “baby items” and I’m sure we will miss it. So in this season of life… minimalism for us looks pretty crazy.

If this is the same for you… don’t let it keep you down, hold you back or discourage you. There’s going to be many seasons of life and minimalism you will go through. So enjoy them and live in the moments.

I mean that’s the whole point of living with less… so you can enjoy more. So don’t forget to enjoy the more

To help you out a couple of simple living mamas and myself shared our versions of what minimalism looks like for us right now. Scroll down to see how it looks for all of them.

What minimalism looks like for us in our current season… Minimalist living is not stagnant. It is ever changing per person, family, per season of life. And right now, a year after we had our fourth baby. The past year, our minimalist living was more on the calendar and on the pace of our life vs staying on top of all things maintenance decluttering in our home. We let things go a bit more than our norm because, well, babies take lots of attention and energy. But now that we are past the one year mark, we're catching up on some maintenance decluttering. And it feels darn good. I love me some decluttering. 🎤And if there's 1️⃣ thing I want to shout out from the roof tops about mininalism, it's this: You. can. be. a. minimalist! Today. Not in the future, when all things are "dealt with". Minimalism is a journey. And it's important to honour the season of life you are in too. And to shift your focus where it's needed through those seasons. ⁣⁣ I have joined with some of my minimal living friends to share some of our best tips to live a more simple, minimal life.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣Have a tip to share about today's topic too? ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🌿Share your tip using the hashtag #tipsforlivingminimal⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ and we'll reshare to our stories. ⁣⁣ 🌿PS want to be a guest admin? what minimalism looks like in this season👆🏼⁣ ⁣ 〰️ [double tap] if you agree.⁣ ⁣ what i’m realizing in this new normal is that we’re all trying our best + that’s e n o u g h. letting go of perfection matters more + more as we navigate days w/ less structure, routines, activities, fill in the blank—in favor of a slower, different pace of life. ⁣ ⁣ so if there’s one thing you do today, have grace with yourself + others. we could all use a little more kindness in this world.⁣ ⁣⁣-⁣ i have joined with some of my minimal living friends to share some of our best tips to live a more simple, minimal life.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣have a tip to share about today's topic too? ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🌿share your tip using the hashtag #tipsforlivingminimal⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ and we'll reshare to our stories. ⁣⁣⁣ 🌿ps. want to be a guest admin? send @eastcoastkelly a DM.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ guest admins: ⁣⁣ @refinedstandard⁣ @simplywellbalanced⁣ ⁣ admins:⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣@eastcoastkelly ⁣⁣⁣ @fairley.simple.life⁣ @minimalmindfulmama⁣ @theminimalmom⁣ @slowsimplehappy⁣ @mama_bear_wooten⁣ ⁣@simply.a.momslife⁣ @theminimalistmethod⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ #minimalistfamily #simplelife #minimalistmom #lessstuffmorelife #cleartheclutter #minimalish #intentionalism #minimalisthome #decluttering #livewithless #minimalistliving⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ #minimalistfamily #minimalismwithkids #livesimply #clutterfreewithkids #simpleliving #minimalistmama #bemorewithless #getorganized⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ #livesimply #intentionalliving #declutteryourlife #mindful

What does minimalism look like for me in my current season?🌱 . It’s not perfect. We still have lots of stuff. Our house gets messy. However, since I started on this simplicity journey, we can easily tidy up our messes. We are being more intentional with what we buy. We are realizing the importance of less. We have more space for creativity and adventures. 🌱 . We are learning to stop and enjoy the moments, especially with each other. 🌱 . It will never be perfect. But it never should be. Minimalism to me is never about the numbers. It’s about creating spaces during whatever season you are currently in. Seasons of life change as should the way minimalism looks in your life. 💚 ⁣⁣ I have joined with some of my minimal living friends to share some of our best tips to live a more simple, minimal life.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣Have a tip to share about today's topic too? ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🌿Share your tip using the hashtag #tipsforlivingminimal⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ and we'll reshare to our stories. ⁣⁣ 🌿PS want to be a guest admin? This season of life for me is: Chaotic! There are no other words that come to mind. We have our belongings strung out over various places; storage, my mother in laws house, my mom's house, everywhere. And no home of our own YET. ⁣ ⁣ Minimalism is interesting in this phase of life because we’ve been living with the bare minimum of the belongings we *thought* were so essential. ⁣ ⁣ But how essential are things we haven’t been able to access in over a year? ⁣ ⁣ Probably not as essential as we thought they were back then…⁣ ⁣ This season of life has taught me so many things, but it’s also taught me that my family is the most essential thing in my life, and all other things are just extra, just STUFF! ⁣ ⁣ So if you’re having a hard time in this season of life, and feel like this journey of minimalism doesn’t fit, stop looking at everyone else’s journey and telling yourself that yours doesn’t add up. Do it for yourself and the reasons you want to make a change or a difference. Live in the season you’re in now, and own it for what it is. It’s just a season. 🧡 And you’re doing it for yourself!⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ I have joined with some of my minimal living friends to share some of our best tips to live a more simple, minimal life.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣Have a tip to share about today's topic too? ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🌿Share your tip using the hashtag #tipsforlivingminimal⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣, and we'll reshare to our stories. ⁣⁣⁣ 🌿PS want to be a guest admin? My go-to tip for living a more minimal life is to GIVE IT TIME. Sounds obvious, I know but read on for some more details…⁣ ⁣ It's inevitable – when you're going through a closet or any other space, you'll come across something you haven't used or worn in ages. Put those items you know you should get rid of into a box. Seal and date the box. If you don't open that box for the next six months – it will be SO much easier to part with. And, you'll have a lot more confidence to get rid of those items that were initially wasting space. ⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ I have joined with some of my minimal living friends to share some of our best tips to live a more simple, minimal life.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣Have a tip to share about today's topic too? ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🌿Share your tip using the hashtag #tipsforlivingminimal⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ and we'll reshare to our stories. ⁣⁣⁣ 🌿PS want to be a guest admin? This is what minimalism with 2 kids looks like for us in our current season.⁣⁣ (This is my daughter's room) ⁣⁣ We started on our journey to simplify 5 years ago and we are now in what I like to call "maintenance mode".⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ My kids are on board and we are beyond the constant clutter of toys and the need to set up toy rotations.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ We don't have any major decluttering projects to tackle; we've been through it all. Anything that was left got donated, sold or tossed when we moved just over a year ago.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ That process was so helpful and has allowed our new home to feel so open and calm instead of bogged down and burdened with items that are no longer needed, wanted or loved. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If you are hoping to minimize your belongings that is my tip for you: Ask yourself: If I were moving would I take this with me? Would this item be worth the time and energy of packing and moving? Would this item have a special place in a new home? If not, it's probably not worth keeping in your current home either. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ I have joined with some of my minimal living friends to share some of our best tips to live a more simple, minimal life.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣Have a tip to share about today's topic too? ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🌿Share your tip using the hashtag #tipsforlivingminimal⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ and we'll reshare to our stories. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🌿PS want to be a guest admin?
