One of the best things about winter is going outside and playing in the snow and then coming in to enjoy a nice warm cup of hot cocoa. It’s like they were made for each other. So this recipe has literally become my new go to for the days when we are building snowmen or having snowball fights.
Before we head out, I add all the ingredients and let it warm up in our crock pot while occasionally popping in from outside to stir it up. This allows me to spend more time outside making memories with my family and less time prepping for them to come back inside. We can all enjoy the cold and then when we come in this will be nice and ready and warm with not much effort besides spooning it into our mugs and adding our toppings.

Before I ever started making my own hot cocoa my all time favorite drink from Starbucks (I only have 2 I’ve ever ordered from them) was their salted hot chocolate. Before the location near me did away with the salt part. There’s something about sweet and salty in one that just makes my tastebuds sing. Like I love yogurt covered pretzels. It’s that’s salty sweet taste!
So when I decided to add my homemade caramel to this recipe I was in heaven the first time I tried it. Salted caramel hot cocoa is seriously one of my all time new favorite recipes and will definitely be our go to for the cold snow days when you’ll catch us outside making all the memories. it is seriously so easy to make and I highly recommend you try using my homemade caramel recipe with this in place of store bought. It is way better and super easy to make.

Now onto the delicious recipe your guaranteed to love if your a salty sweet person.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 C chocolate chips
- 3/4 C caramel sauce
- 3 C milk
- 1 C heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 tsp salt
INSTRUCTIONS
- Add the chocolate chips, caramel sauce, milk, and heavy cream in your crockpot.
- Cook on low for 2-3 hours. Stir occasionally.
- When the chocolate chips are melted and the ingredients are all mixed together evenly stir in vanilla and salt.
- Enjoy!

Your chocolate chips will sink to the bottom as they melt. Make sure you stir them up each time you stir it. So they don’t burn and get evenly mixed in. I like to use my whisk once they are melted pretty could you help them blend in well with everything.
