DIY Sugar Scrub For Valentine’s Day

With the season of love coming up I wanted to share the perfect homemade sugar scrub to treat yourself. Love season isn’t just for sending and giving love to others. You also need to give yourself some love to and what better way than with a DIY sugar scrub that’s perfect for Valentines Day. It’s the pink Himalayan salt in it that gives me all the Valentines vibes. And it helps add to the scrub texture that makes it amazing.

This recipe I use calls for vanilla essential oils but feel free to use an oil that you love or if your not big into scented beauty products feel free to omit it all together. Your making this so tweak it to fit what you like. Or if your making it as a gift and you know they like something specific then tweak to their liking. Or if you don’t know… leave with no scent and let the person your gifting it too know that they can add 6 drops of their favorite oil to it.

Now remember this is body scrub that includes salt and essential oils so don’t use it near your eyes or orally. You don’t want to get sick or have your eyes start burning. I also would avoid using this with children if you add the essential oil. The ratio isn’t formulated for them and can irritate their skin. Another tip is that if you’ve never applied oils to your skin then I highly suggest doing a patch test on the inside of your forearm apply a drop mixed with some melted oil to see if you end up with a reaction to the oil (give it 24 hours) to show up.

Ok now onto that sugar scrub recipe you came here for…

  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup Coconut Oil
  • 2 tbsp Himalayan salt
  • 6 drops Vanilla Essential Oil (or scent of choice)

  1. Using a microwave safe bowl heat your coconut oil. Begin with 45 seconds, then stir and then heat in 30 second increments until melted.
  2. Add in your sugar and himalayan salt and mix.
  3. Mix in your essential oil.
  4. Store in an air tight glass jar.

The fun thing homemade sugar scrubs and needing to store them in air tight containers is that all those glass sauce, pickle or salsa jars are perfect for this. I’m actually using a small recycled jar from salsa. It’s the perfect size and has a wide enough opening to where I can easily scoop it out with my hands.

I hope you enjoy doing some self care this holiday season. You are definitely worth it and your body will thank you for it!

Until next time. Live a life you love.

Xo Jessica!
